HOW TO SEARCH MEDIA IN VIDIGAMI
Use the Vidigami search bar to quickly find and navigate to media. Search results are powered by keywords, years, album names, page names, and user names. Even if your school does not use facial tagging or custom keywords, every post includes built-in smart tags, so your media is always searchable.

Part 1: Adding Information to Media for Search
The search bar finds media based on key types of metadata.
To edit or add metadata, a user must have Manage Media permission, which also includes Keyword permission.
Users without Manage Media permission can still impact search by adding descriptions when uploading posts.
Manually Assigned Metadata
- Keywords
- User Names
Manually assigned metadata lets permitted users add details to media either during upload or after it has been added to Vidigami.
Adding Manual Metadata During Upload and After Upload
Automatically Assigned Metadata
- Years
- Album Names
- Page Names
Automatically assigned metadata is created without user oversight. For example, when you search by year, all media uploaded in that year is automatically included.
Part 2: Finding Media Using the Search Bar
Users can search only the media they already have access to.
When you enter a word or name (for example, “kindergarten”), any media with exact matching metadata will appear. This means that users need to make sure they are searching for the correct terms. Suggestions will appear when you search to help you out.
"And" and "Or" as Search Terms
In Vidigami, you can add "and" and "or" to help out with your search. To do so, type these connector symbols/words in search as a separate term.
Ex. "Halloween Dance" "or" "Halloween Night"
| And | Or |
| "Tag1" "Tag2" without any sumbols in between | | |
| & | || |
| && |
or |
| "and" |
